How to properly choose the size of a ring/signet ring?

1. The simplest and most reliable method for determining your finger size is to have it measured at the ANNA SAMKOW showroom in Warsaw. Measurements can also be taken at any jewellery store. If you intend to buy a signet ring from us, when measuring, specify that it is to be a wide ring. These sometimes require a slightly larger size than thin, delicate rings. This depends on the structure of the finger.

2. The second solution is self-measurement. This solution can work well if the purchase is meant to be a surprise. You can measure a ring at the ANNA SAMKOW showroom or at any jewellery store and provide us with the determined size. You can also measure the diameter of a ring yourself with a caliper and provide us with the measurement in millimetres with an accuracy of 0.1mm (e.g., 14.2mm); in that case, the precise diameter length will be sufficient for us to determine the appropriate size.

Remember that the measurement must be taken precisely in the exact centre of the ring.

We do not recommend popular measurements with string, a ruler, or a tape measure, as their accuracy is insufficient.

The most popular chain lengths can be divided into three sections:

shortest 41 cm,

medium length 45 - 60 cm,

long 60 - 90cm.



Measuring necklace length:

  • On the website, the description of each necklace specifies the chain length. The length is understood as the total circumference of the chain/necklace, excluding the pendant and extender. When measuring the chain length from one side, multiply it by two to get the circumference.

    - All necklaces can be adjusted with an extender. This is a chain made of small links, and its length ranges from 3 to 10 cm.

 

What to consider when choosing chain length?

Individual preferences and clothing style are important. If you prefer larger pendants, very long chains, over 60 cm, are an interesting solution. The standard length is 45 cm. If you buy more than one necklace, it's good to choose different chain lengths to be able to wear them together, creating a layered composition. If you like to wear chains close to your neck, a length of 41 cm or less will be a good choice. For men, chains of 45 - 60 cm are most often chosen. If necessary, the chain can be shortened or lengthened.

 

 Measuring your hand:

- For rigid, clasp-less bracelets that must be slipped over the hand, measure the circumference of the folded hand with a tailor's tape measure. The size should be measured at the widest part of the hand so that the bracelet can pass through it freely.

- The average hand circumference for women is 17-19 cm
